Ultrasonography (Ultrasound)

Ultrasonography or ultrasound is a test which is carried out to check the woman’s uterus, ovaries and the fallopian tubes. In this procedure, a small ultrasound probe will be placed on the abdomen(transabdominal) or into the vagina(transvaginal) . This will be connected to a screen outside. The probe will capture sound waves inside the body, which will be transformed into images. As a result, a real time sonogram appears on the monitor. You will not be able to understand the picture. The result will be interpreted by the doctor.

The procedure will be done by a sonographer or a radiologist. Typically, the procedure may take 20-30 minutes of time. You may not need to have any special preparation for the test. You will be able to return to normal activities right after the test.
